On rewriting inner dialog to defeat the inner critic:

When I was 39, I decided to run a marathon because I knew I couldn’t. I *knew* i couldn’t. That was my story. I admired runners, but I was not a runner. I wanted to like running but it hurt and I wasn’t good at it. That was my story. Turns out my running story was fiction!

So, what does this have to do with Money, you ask? Everything. Whether you know it or not, most of us live with a money story that may include facts, but is largely fiction we’ve told so long that we believe it as fact. It’s a story you can rewrite. If America Ferrera can finish a Triathlon (she did!) and I can finish a Marathon (I did!)Finisher, you can finish being in debt (or accomplish your next money goal). And when you get there (you will!), you will feel like a badass. 🙂

A budget is like a training plan. You can call it torture and suffering, or you can rise to the challenge and even have some friends and fun along the way. After all, you deserve to have fun and love your life.

You are more powerful than you know. You are stronger than you give yourself credit for. You can do anything. Start. Commit. Tell yourself the story of your success. Tell someone you trust. Enlist a coach or accountability partner. Keep going. Open your heart AND YOUR WORDS to the reality of your success.
